Giving back to Alexandria since 1921

Calling all Volunteers!

The Alexandria Kiwanis Club is looking for new members! Are you ready to volunteer your time to help children in Alexandria? Our club has an almost 100-year history serving children in need and we want you to join us at our next community service event. We encourage everyone in Alexandria to donate time or money to serve the youth of our city.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Our community service club currently sponsors youth leadership groups at local schools, several annual events, a quarterly litter clean-up project, and weekly meetings to discuss other charity projects. We also have many ideas for other opportunities and need more volunteers to carry them out. Also, if you have a project you would like to carry out, we will help you make it happen.

Proposed Community Service Projects

The Kiwanis Club is ready to support any project that helps the children of Alexandria. If you are ready to take on a project, please let us know. Some ideas that we have considered implementing include:

  • Selling sno-cones, cotton candy, or popcorn at community events to raise funds for local organizations
  • Mentoring at-risk youth
  • Accompanying disadvantaged children to movies
  • Bring at-risk youth to a Nationals baseball game (through the Community Ticket Grant Program)
  • Heading-up our club participation at local parades (Scottish Walk, George Washington Birthday, St. Patrick's Day)
  • Sponsor a police and fire display for children
  • Teach child car seat safety
  • Cultivate team sports and sportsmanship
  • Grant wishes of seriously ill children
  • Guide "aged out" foster care teens to become productive adults
